Leaving The City of Guilt and Regret and Walking Into FREEDOM

Leaving the City of Guilt
by Larry Harp

I had not really planned on taking a trip this time of year, and yet I found myself packing rather hurriedly. This trip was going to be unpleasant and I knew in advance that no real good would come of it. I'm talking about my annual "Guilt Trip."

I got tickets to fly there on Wish I Had airlines. It was an extremely short flight. I got my baggage, which I could not check. I chose to carry it myself all the way. It was weighted down with a thousand memories of what might have been. No one greeted me as I entered the terminal to the Regret City International Airport. I say international because people from all over the world come to this dismal town.

As I checked into the Last Resort Hotel, I noticed that they would be hosting the year's most important event, the Annual Pity Party. I wasn't going to miss that great social occasion. Many of the towns leading citizens would be there.

First, there would be the Done family, you know, Should Have, Would Have and Could Have. Then came the I Had family. You probably know ol' Wish and his clan. Of course, the Opportunities would be present, Missed and Lost.  The biggest family would be the Yesterday's. There are far too many of them to count, but each one would have a very sad story to share.

Then Shattered Dreams would surely make and appearance. And It's Their Fault would regale us with stories (excuses) about how things had failed in his life, and each story would be loudly applauded by Don't Blame Me and I Couldn't Help It.

Well, to make a long story short, I went to this depressing party knowing that there would be no real benefit in doing so. And, as usual, I became very depressed. But as I thought about all of the stories of failures brought back from the past, it occurred to me that all of this trip and subsequent "pity party" could be cancelled by ME! I started to truly realize that I did not have to be there. I didn't have to be depressed. One thing kept going through my mind, I CAN'T CHANGE YESTERDAY, BUT I DO HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE TODAY A WONDERFUL DAY. I can be happy, joyous, fulfilled, encouraged, as well as encouraging. Knowing this, I left the City of Regret immediately and left no forwarding address. Am I sorry for mistakes I've made in the past? YES! But there is no physical way to undo them.

So, if you're planning a trip back to the City of Regret, please cancel all your reservations now. Instead, take a trip to a place called, Starting Again. I liked it so much that I have now taken up permanent residence there. My neighbors, the I Forgive Myselfs and the New Starts are so very helpful. By the way, you don't have to carry around heavy baggage, because the load is lifted from your shoulders upon arrival. God bless you in finding this great town. If you can find it -- it's in your own heart -- please look me up. I live on I Can Do It street.

AHA Moments with Susan : ) 4

THE FOURTH AHA: HEALTH IS YOUR NATURAL STATE
I am a healthy person. I think like a healthy person.
I talk like a healthy person. I walk like a healthy person.
I believe, feel and act like a healthy person.

Like a radio that is tuned to one frequency, I am tuned to the Healthy Person's frequency.
I condition my mind to think healthy, happy, content, peaceful thoughts. I talk about the endless possibilities to all who will listen. I read what Healthy People read. I soak in what Healthy People say. I drink in their wisdom, insights and deep understandings. I listen to what Healthy People listen to.

I hang with Healthy People! I interact with Healthy People here at the Hab! I am INVOLVED in the shift and change! I comment on what is being said! I encourage others with my time. I make time to help others and as I do this...I find that I am stronger in my decisions.

I think about creating health during my days and I dream of health at night. I enjoy creating health. I am creating health and am a wise steward of it. I master my health.

I love to serve. I realize that it is the quantity an quality of my services rendered with a positive attitude that grants me unlimited, overflowing, ever-flowing compensation. I am constantly rendering increasingly better service. The better I serve my body, the better I feel.

I love challenges. I conquer any health challenging mountains with glee and joy in my heart.

There is a banquet of health ready and waiting for me I cheerfully help others on their journey to health and wholeness. Being a healthy person means I live an energized, balanced life, growing, serving, sharing...

It's great to be healthy and strong!

This year it is vital that you take seriously the fact that this is the only body you are ever going to have.

Did you know that January was National Be On-Purpose Month? (So what that it is April!!  Let's be ON-PURPOSE all year long!)  This January observance was created to encourage us to start the new year by putting our good intentions into action and to trade confusion for clarity as we integrate our lives with more meaning and purpose.

Today is a day to recognize that the expanded person you can become is the person you are in your heart already. What if you become an inspiration of what it means to live a life so in harmony with your soul’s purpose that others catch the spirit of that energy just being in your presence?

Say yes to your purpose. : )

AHA Moments with Susan : ) 3

The THIRD AHA: Be - Do - Have
First, be.
Then, do.
Then you can have all the health you want!
You must BE before you DO.
You are a human BEing, not a doing...

Say this ALOUD:
I am Healthy!
I love Health and Health loves me.
I am choosing to be healthy 24 hours a day.
I wisely know how to create health in my body
I want a healthy body.
I believe I can have a healthy body.
I believe that I deserve a healthy body...down to my very core.

**Adapted from The One Minute Millionaire by Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen. I believe that every self-help book out there can be applied to every part of our lives. This book specifically talks about finances. When I read this book, I could see how it can easily applied to achieving our health and wellness goals.

At Raw Food Rehab provide you with the tools and resources pertaining to the Raw and Living Foods Lifestyle.  YOU provide the motivation, the elbow grease, THE INITIATIVE...the desire and want to.  It is your personal responsibility as to what you CHOOSEto put into your mouth and how you move your body!  You only have one body....How you care for it is your decision!
What is your health WORTH to you is the question you need to ask yourself.

I like the quote from There is a Cure for Diabetes by Gabriel Cousens: (pg 248)

Inner Revolution
Revolution doesn't have to do with smashing something; it has to do with bringing something forth.

If you spend all your time thinking thinking about that which you are attacking, then you are negatively bound to it. You have to find the zeal in yourself and bring that out. That is what is given to you--one life to live. Marx teaches us to blame society for our frailties; Freud teaches us to blame our parents; astrology teaches us to blame the universe. The only is within: you didn't have the guts to bring up your full moon and live the life that was your potential. quoted by Joseph Campbell, from Pathways to Bliss

My comments on the above quote..
When we take personal responsibility for our life
and do not complain about the results, we feel great.
If we do not like what the results are, we can always change.
Blame is only felt if we do not take personal responsibility.

Here is another great quote from Gabriel Cousens in this book,
... what he says about the Culture of Life vs. the Culture of Death:

The Culture of Life promotes eating healthy and everything that brings LIFE!
The Culture of Death promotes moderation...moderation kills (see page 246)

"For many of us who are new to eating plant-source foods, this diet can seem unusual until we get used to it.
As we move TOWARD an organic, live-food, diet,
we also move
FROM : low-nutrient to high nutrient-dense foods;
FROM the suffering of disease symptoms to their dissolution;
FROM dead foods to vibrant, living food,
FROM maximum to minimum health care costs;
FROM below average to above average life span;
FROM millions of dying of starvation to almost none;

FROM a transition diet of eating for comfort alone
TO a transformative diet of eating as a means and support for personal growth."

On page 247. he talks about the 3 internal realizations as you shift into the Culture of Life ......check this out...

At first, you perceive the changes in your life as deprivation:
"I am not eating my standard, ego-centered diet anymore."

Next, you move to transition:
"I am not eating my standard, ego-centered diet and I eat a Culture of Life World Cuisine."

And then you move on to abundance and joy:
"I eat a Culture of Life World Cuisine and enjoy the pleasure of being healthy and being free from diabetes (or you fill in the blank.)"

This journey is an inner revolution, a mindset shift from deprivation to abundance...
I use this concept when I teach my raw food classes to help other's
make the shift necessary to walk this lifestyle in ease...

Once you get it clear in your mind, it is far easier to carry it out!

Pg 161 quotes:

It is a part of the cure to wish to be cured.

AHA Moments with Susan : ) 2

The SECOND AHA: LIVE LIFE ABOVE THE LINE
If you are willing to learn instead of blame, life will go more smoothly.

Whenever something doesn't go as expected, most of us tend to 'blame' someone else for what went wrong. In doing so, we lose a tremendous learning opportunity. We make progress by learning from mistakes.
When we blame someone, it gives that person power over the situation. For example, "If John had done what he agreed to do, then this would have never happened." That may be true. However, this statement gives John the power over the situation, and we usually learn very little from the experience.
If we avoid the tray of laying blame, we sometimes tend to justify what happened, "I would have gotten the job done except that I have traveled all night yesterday and I was too tired to focus on the project today." This is just another form of blame. Instead of blaming a person, we blame circumstances. Again, no matter how reasonable the justification, we lose an opportunity to optimally learn from the situation.++

If we get beyond blaming and justifying, there is another level of sub-optimal learning. That is shame--beating yourself up; "I did the dumbest thing!" Instead of blaming another person or circumstance, we blame ourselves. This too reduces the opportunity for learning.

Where, then, is the optimal place to view life experiences?
From the point of personal responsiblity---from above the line.

++I love this quote from Will Bowen: "Your complaints may seem fully justified, but realize that whenever you complain, you are placing your order for more of the same." http://www.acomplaintfreeworld.org

Susan's reflections on the above...
Most of here do not live with a family who want to embrace this new lifestyle. In fact, this is so new to many of us. Do not expect others who are not working on this change to support you. Do not blame them...do not criticize their choices. You have now just come to this ....do this for YOU! : )

Pace yourself and focus....You are in this for life....Take a few baby steps every day..like simply start with adding GREENS to your existing diet...You will be amazed at how the cravings go away when you get enough Greens. I love Green Smoothies...that is no secret!
Every raw bite brings you closer to the healthy, strong body you so deserve!

AHA Moments with Susan : ) 1

These AHA posts are designed to assist you in bringing into focus the important things. YOU gaining the desired results of a healthy, strong body while at the same time sharpening your mind and refreshing vibrancy to your spirit is the goal!

These principles are simple, yet powerful models that help you understand how it works. Principles generate the same result each and every time--no matter where, when or who uses them. Principles work when YOU work them.

Gravity is a principle. When you wake up in the morning, you don't have to question which way your foot will go to get out of bed. It goes down, never up. Likewise, two times two always equals four. It never equals five. Principles don't wear out, rust out, or give out. Principles cannot be overused. Life is a process of discovering principles--of discovering what works. If you want to make rapid progress, don't fight against the principles.

Say these words aloud: " I discover the principles that work and work them. I am forever learning new principles that interaccommodate with what I already know, to the betterment of my life. As principles are revealed to me, I cheerfully record them, use them and share them. Principles are, without question, the fastest way to what I want...These principles are my AHAs!"

The FIRST AHA: Everyone Manifests
Everyone manifests. (displays, shows something clearly, make something evident by showing or demonstrating it very clearly, to appear or be revealed...(dictionary definitions)
Some people manifest abundance. Others manifest lack. If you don't have what you want, examine your thoughts. Ask yourself, "How did I manifest this?"

You are the fruit of the thoughts you have planted and nourished. If you want a better harvest, you must plant better thoughts. Just like an apple seed will not produce a peach tree, unhealthy thoughts will not produce health. As surely as the acorn becomes the oak tree, the images in your mind become your reality.

Thoughts are things. Every thought has a consequence. No thought lives in your mind rent-free. Each thought is a pebble dropped into the pond of your life--the ripples are real. The more intense the thought, the more powerful the outcome. An angry thought gets picked up like a radio wave. People can sense it. Animals can smell it. The whole energy system surrounding you in infected. Weed out such thoughts.
Think positive thoughts, intensely. Grow enthusiastic images, boldly. Speak only wonderful words to yourself, contantly. Feel fantastic, NOW! This colors your view of the world. Like a magnet, you attract the resources necessary to manifest the world you desire.

Say this ALOUD:
Today, I am enough...I am smart enough...Wise enough...Clever enough...Resourceful enough...Able enough...Confident enough...I am connected to enough people here at the Hab to accomplish my health goals.

I have enough ideas, recipes, instructions to pull this off!
Enough is all I need...Enough is what I have. I have more than enough!
As I do all that I can do, I am able to do more and more.
I am excited to be alive! : )

I rejoice and RE-CHOICE every day to make my life better!
I am happy, healthy, content, prosperous, successful, rich, loving, loved and beloved!
I am comfortable with myself, so I am comfortable with others.
I confidently greet each day with a smile on my face and love in my heart!
Everyone who meets me is warmed by the radiance of my attitude.
I work on my attitude continuously. I read positive, inspiring and uplifting materials. I fill my mind with beautiful music and positive people when I am driving or exercising.
I associate with the friendly, nuturing people of RFR who are involved on a daily basis doing the important things that will bring them optimum health. The projects I am involved with WOW my soul. I am passionately on-purpose to do good, be good and help others to do the same.
I am enough. I have enough. I do enough.
