Streamlining Our Focus

We are literally only a few days away from 2011...Let's use this time to reshift our focus...and prepare for the BEST REST OF OUR LIVES!

The Now Habit is now available for purchase through the RFR Amazon store.
Here are some excerpts from The Now Habit Philosopher's Notes:
"A complete treatment of procrastination must address the underlying blocked needs that cause a person to resort to procrastination. The Now Habit starts with a new definition: Procrastination is a mechanism for coping with anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision. From this definition it follows that those most vunerable to procrastination are those who feel the most threatened by difficulty in starting a project, criticisionm failure, and the loss of other opportunities that may result from committing to one project." ~Neil Fiore
"It is not discipline, willpower, or pressure from others that facilitates adherence to a challenging course of action. Rather, it is the freedom to choose , the personal commitment to a mission, and the willingness to take responsibility for the consequences of our decisions that steels the will and emboldens the spirit." ~ Neil Fiore from "The Road Back to Health"

VICTIM/PROCRASTINATOR? YOUR CALL
“Certainly others are frequently in positions of power to affect you and your job, and they might even try to judge your work or your skills. But they can never make you into a victim or a procrastinator. Only YOU can do that.”
This is Big. Super Big. (Technically speaking, of course. :)
It’s REALLY easy to fall into victim-mode where we blame those around us for our problems and look for rescuers to bail us out. Know that there’s a BIG difference between being victimized—which we ALL are at times (from being abused as children or cut off on the way to work) and being a victim.
Too often we think that being victimized DETERMINES our victimhood. But it doesn’t. We ALWAYS have a choice as to how we interpret an event and it’s REALLY (!!!) important we make that choice wisely.
So, if you’re currently feeling persecuted by people or circumstances in your life, take a moment to step back and see that between the challenges and your response there’s a gap. You wanna step in there and ask yourself how you can create the best response to the situation and avoid falling into the habits of complaining, criticizing, blaming and all that other not-so-fun stuff of victimville.
Why is this so important? Check out the video below on Learned Optimism for the research on “learned helplessness” and the fact that when we assume the role of disempowered/helpless victim we dramatically increase our likelihood of being depressed/sick/tired/etc.
As Fiore says: “The change in my feelings at that moment was quite dramatic. Stress was replaced with purposeful action; a sense of victimhood was transformed into empowerment.”

Becoming a Producer:
"As you begin to speak to yourself in a language that focuses on results rather than blame, on choice rather than have to, on what is rather than what you think should be, you will find that your body and mind cooperate by providing a level of positive energy free from the unnecessary struggles of the past and negative comparisons with the future." ~ Neil Fiore

"What small steps can I take NOW
so I can create the future I’m so excited about
as I enjoy this moment I’m so blessed to have?!?"

So, let’s have fun shifting from procrastinator to producer and KNOW that every time we make the shift we’re re-grooving our consciousness in powerful ways!

Remain Happy, Continue to Prosper and Move On...

"Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives." - Tony Robbins

One of the greatest powers we have as human beings is to assign our own meaning to the events of our lives. Every one of us has a story we believe about our past, present and the future. That story is either empowering us or disempowering us.

We've all have unexpected things happen in our lives. Loved ones has passed on, lovers have left, stock markets under perform, the government isn't doing everything you want it to be doing, the economy isn't great and things didn't quite turn out the way we thought they "should".

And yet in these exact same circumstances some people remain happy, continue to prosper and move on; while others continue down a spiral of sadness, depression and anxiety, eventually hitting a rock bottom.

What is the difference between these two people? At their core, the only different is the STORY they tell themselves and the MEANING they assign that story. When something unpleasant happens in your life - what do you tell yourself? What question to you ask when everything hits the fan?

Is it an empowering story and question or a disempowering one? If you ask the question "Why does this always happen to ME!?" and then assign some kind of meaning like "Good things just aren't supposed to happen to people like me," you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice.

If instead you asked yourself, "How can I be even MORE open guidance and see the lesson in every situation?" and gave events the meaning of "I am here to learn and grow, everything that happens in my life happens FOR me, not TO me," you are going to see events much differently.

How can you begin telling a different story about your life today? What new and empowering meaning can you give the events of your life? If you only changed this one element of your life - it would change it for the better in immeasurable ways!

We cannot always control what happens TO us, but we can ALWAYS control the meaning of the events and we can either choose to GROW or WITHER in every moment. The wise and wealthy always choose empowered growth over disempowered withering.
You are not a victim. You are the hero of your own life. Give it a new meaning, tell yourself a new story and watch how things start to get better, one day at a time.

Say this ALOUD:
I give the events of my life a new and empowering meaning!
I tell a new story and become whoever I choose!
I am the hero of my life!

The Positive Choice - Blogdate 12/8/10

If you are confused, a lost and wandering soul, as we can all be from time to time, right this minute, instead of turning everything over and over and over again in our confused heads, we should choose right now to go forth in to our day and our life just being a positive person. Let's make that our new goal. You can't afford the luxury of a negative thought. Not even one! They are way too destructive, and you are way too valuable of a person. Your thoughts count for so much, they are so creative, and you really need to keep each one tilted towards the light.
If a thought comes up that feels negative, put a positive spin on it, look at the bright side of it, or let it go. When positive thoughts start coming up, and they soon do, give those lots of energy! Start off every day with this intention and you'll go a long way towards being able to solve all the confusion in your life! You'll feel an instant sense of relief when you make the choice to be positive! When you really master this, even your relationship with food completely changes, with no effort.
I've been mulling over my life's direction, and the whole process has had a lot of ups and downs as things become more and more clear. Seeking the true desire of my soul, the greatest good of my family, the best direction for this heartsong business, how to integrate it with my creative ideas for books and music....Can I do all these things...do I need to let some of it go and really focus...why doesn't one of my ideas really stand out and passionately demand my attention....what kind of a person am I really...what do I want....what is the best thing to do financially....or should I be asking myself what is it I'm most passionate about....but could I even do that with my big family....If I dedicate myself to my art passionately will I be ignoring my children....and how do I even keep track of all these questions....And after thinking and working and trying and ....I wish I could say praying....but I know I haven't been doing enough of this!....obviously!! .....
....Well, wandering around literally, in a field by the playground with my 3 year old sweetie this morning, I just decided to stop this endless search for a life's goal, and just try to be a positive person. You know the minute I thought this, my entire being just gave a sigh of relief, and my whole world changed. You just never know when a breakthrough is coming your way! And I just knew that was all I needed to do, was to think positively. Storm and I talked about it and he agreed with me how true it is that even one negative thought, if you give it energy, can breed and multiply and take over your whole being, like a cancer, perhaps even manifesting as a physical cancer. It is so important not to indulge in negative thinking just because it feels easy or entertaining or dramatic or cool....Better to feel emptiness, humility, peace, openness, receptivity....and let the equally exciting positive thoughts grow from this place.
People think you have to think about negative things or you aren't dealing with reality. You can think positively about negative things. But believing you have to think negatively is like holding on to a cooked food diet after you've felt the incredible vitality of eating raw!
Make the Positive Choice now!

Our River is Here : )

Here is my son Josiah with his firstborn, River Ann Marie Bradbury!

He is soo proud and I am soo proud of him!

Amy was still in recovery when this video was made.

They are going to be awesome parents!

Come...Celebrate....Sing and dance and rejoice with us as we welcome River into our family!

Down the mountain the river flows
And it brings refreshing wherever it goes
Through the valleys and over the fields
The river is rushing and the river is here

The river of God sets our feet a-dancing
The river of God fills our hearts with cheer
The river of God fills our mouths with laughter
And we rejoice for the river is here

The river of God is teeming with life
And all who touch it can be revived
And those who linger on this river’s shore
Will come back thirsting for more of the Lord
Up to the mountain we love to go
To find the presence of the Lord
Along the banks of the river we run
We dance with laughter giving praise to the Son

Signing off as Grandma Susan : )
